About us

The practise was started in 1983 as Misha Simic & Associates, by Misha who had qualified as a professional member of the Faculty of Architects & Surveyors in the 1960’s and had worked for various local firms previously including Charles Wells Brewery. As assistant chief architect at Charles Wells he was responsible for the design of their new brewery constructed in 1976’s in Queens Park, Bedford. At the time it was the first brewery built in this country for 100 years.

Aleks Simic worked with Misha for a year from the start of the practise before leaving to go to college. Having also worked for other local practises he rejoined in 1990. Soon after the practise adopted the name Simic Associates and in 1994 they received their first wider recognition by way of the GIS Annual Design Award. Misha semi retired in 2003 but still provides consultancy services as required.

In 2002 Simic Associates became one of the first practises in the country to receive from the Chartered Instituteof Building the formal designation of a Chartered Building Consultancy. Aleks is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers. The practise has continued to be recognised for it’s services with the following recent acknowledgements.
